Last test session in 2025…

A few more issues ticked off the list…

It turned out to be not only cold but wet as well, so only a brief test at Blyton this time around.

The main aim of the day was to see if we had found the cause of our problematical down shift, Jamie had been hampered at the last few rounds of the season with the downshift not being quick enough. In addition, we also wanted to check-out changes to clutch lever and lower revs torque combined with some practice starts.

The changes made to low revs torque were immediately obvious, no more revving to 5000 rpm just to move around the paddock, the changes made to the throttle opening percentages made at the last rolling road session at JamSport combined with changes to the clutch lever pivot point allowed the car to moved away at tick-over!

After just one lap James reported that even with conditions being far from ideal, he could shift down so much quicker than before. Greg from Road Race Rally had obviously performed his magic. With the rain falling heavier than expected Jamie did a few more laps just seeing how quickly the updated system would work, satisfied that we would learn little more, we loaded the car and headed for home.

Once home a quick look at the data showed a 5th,4th to 3rd downshift in less than .7 of second which should be good enough!

That’s it for 2025, just a few more sensors to fit, a thorough check over plus the usual fluids etc and then it’s just starts to practice and some more set-up work to get through before the start of the ’26 season…thanks once again to Sam from Mana Motorsport, Jamie from Jamsport and Greg from RRR as without their help and patience we would still have a very, very long list of problems with our R1.
